New Camera...

Just purchased a nice new SLR camera (actually shared present with the wife), so thought I'd get used to it with some car pics, of course !!

Had some spare time recently so got to work on my own car for a change.

I gave the car a full detail back at the turn of the year, thoroughly cleansed inside/outside/under bonnet and paint machined (although showing some sign of webs already :D ). With the car having done probably a whole 600 miles since then was just aiming to strip off the old wax (bodywork still smooth - check!) to put on some new Blackfire items recently purchased from pb. That and quickly buffing up the wheels (which will have only done about 300 miles since being put back on after winter) and shining up the chrome.

Wet Diamond All Finish Protection as base layer then 3 coats (so far) of Blackfire Midnight Sun Ivory Carnauba Paste Wax.

A couple of quick pics (remember I'm just getting used to the world of SLR) :

1st one assisted by the reflection off my wifes red car:

Oh, and yes I'm liking the camera !!! They make the car look better than I thought it was !?!

How I wish I'd taken up your offer last year now Colin!

Looking fantastic mate, no point on practising on Derek's car, you've mastered the black ones ok, you need some blue stickered action!!!

Very very nice m8 - The D60 is a great camera. I'm a Nikon man myself - got the D50 which is a few years old now but still a very capable camera! Nice start to your DSLR career

Thanks for the nice comments folks.

I was happy with the finish on the paintwork but I think it has been helped where I was fortunate to catch the light at the right time and angle...complete accident !! Ho'd and hum'd about whether to post any pics then I downloaded them on to the pc and thought they made the car look even better than it does in the flesh/metal !

pmacFTO - So pleased with the quality of the pics coming from the D60, just getting used to some of the functions, annoying everyone taking pics of everything !!

Stubaroo - just get your work posted on, I quite like checking out other folks work/pics (and yes I check out DetailingWorld also). Think I've an OCD bubbling away !!! :D

Strike/Badbaz - always a big compliment when someone says that....ta. It took me a long time to get to that level, think you'd miss not getting to actually drive yours in that time. I kinda went a bit beyond the quick wash and wax, every time I washed it I saw a different bit I wanted to get just a bit more out of - I'm already noticing some little bits that need seeing too again...like the scrapes on the back bumper but they're for respray (close my eyes walking round that bit!) !! :madnoel:

Welsho/Imy - suppose it does look chrome like in bits...hmm  , a chrome car, now that would be a cleaning nightmare !! Step too far me thinks, you couldn't go out on a sunny day without blinding everyone !

Now, I suppose I better go out in it some time !

:P , a job offer and a (pretend) queue of four for near death by polishing :) . Cheers.

Don't say "scratch" Bobby, I've a bumper with 4 to get rid of  !!

It's a Nikon D60 Gordon, although somehow pmacFTO knew that before I said anything ?? Must show up when you click on a pic or something like that ??

On the way back from Falkirk Sunday I had to pass a cattle transporter on the motorway, with some "coloured liquid" pouring out the back, sprayed all over the car...the wife was in stitches at me getting a run up to get past quick as. Oh well, needs another wash  .

he'd spent ages washing waxing and claying his RB320 on Saturday and he didnt want to brake too hard on the way up to Falkirk...

didnt want to get brake dust on his nice clean wheels
