Had a great day today up at the Mcrae stages ( Errochty ). We left early to get up and avoid the rush. A big thanks to Brian ( ralye 6 ) for the transport, tommy t-cut for the cooking skills and gus the bus for the banter ( mumble pants :D ).

Great pics mate, great to see the 'old skool' in full flight! :D

We made it, went up Craigvinean early (car park 2) great spot at hairpin about 1/2 mile into stage from the car park, saw the 1st 8/10 runners through then nothing for about an hour and a half, then 2 fire engines, heavy resuce unit and medic car, then nothing, then a course car announcing apologies for delay - restarting into 20 mins. Nothing for 45 mins then a marshals car - who we stopped to ask what's going on - stage cancelled!! :P

Spoke to other marshalls on the way down, a member of the public had apparently dialled 999 when a car crashed further in the stage, they came in and then one of the fire engines got stuck! Game over for the day!

Apologies for hijacking your thread mate, but needed to vent! :D

Mumble pants! :P

Excellent day with the other 3 Amigo's (Paul, Brian & Tam)and the usual banter :D

Excellent spot for watching the rally 2day, glad we set of at 6am though as the car park only had a few vehicles in when we arrived and quickly got filled up.

Good to meet Euan R and Scooby222 on stage and watch some quality machinery with top drivers/co-drivers.

Sorry to hear about Craigvinean! :D Apparantly Jimmy McRaes Porsche went on fire is what we heard :) But both Jimmy and co.driver were fine. phew!!!!!!!!!!

Was meant to be home for 2pm but that never happened :(

Sorry to hear about the stage being cancelled ,totally sucks ,ah bet a few people would like to have got their hands on the nob jockey who phoned for all that lot to come out !!

Spot on John!! No one more so than the misses, and I quote "feckin idiot" :D . She's exceedingly p***ed off as she took a days holiday for the rally only to see 8/10 cars at full tilt!! :D

Although, not just us but potentially the biggest spectator stage of the day, so 1,000's in the same boat.

Lynch mob?? :P

Had i not been working today, i would have been there too...... :D

Hi Colin,

It's a Canon 300d.

Had it for about 4 years, and it's well out of date now.

Been looking at replacing it with a 40d, and Nick having this one.

Russell was up with us today too.

Cheers

David

I have the 400d, but it's also a bit OOD now. Brian has the 40d, so i may go down the same route as him.....

Well, as I said , I got up early (6.10), dressed and fed, then off to my dad's garage in Paisley to finish bolting the last few bits on to an WRX engine that had I done some headgaskets on. Left Paisley at 8.45 after fuelling up and went up Loch Lomond to Crianlarich and across to Kenmore for stage 3 at Drummond Hill. Got there at 11.15 after a pleasant run with light traffic. About a mile walk in to the stage, and found quite a nice spot where I could just see the cars coming out of a tighter 90degree right turn, up a hill over a slight crest in to a long 3rd gear left that opened and tightened in to a hairpin right (that was just out of sight) I could probably see 3-400 yards all in. I stayed to watch all the cars through. Most impressive on this stretch were Alistair, Bjorn, Jimmy, Malcolm, Travis and Ken. In the 4wd, Matthew and Wullie Bonniewell were impressive. Finished the day with a nice run from Aberfeldy to Crieff and on home from there. Here's a few of the pics. Sorry the standard of the pics is not that high, but I don't really get the Cannon EOS300d out often enough to get practice in. Some decent ones that you know who the drivers are at least.
