Do the pistons in the calipers need to be wound back to get the pads out or pushed back? If they need wound back do i need a special tool for this?

I find if you buy one of each type of Magnum Ice cream eat one at each corner and then use the stick to push the piston back works for me....takes around 4 hours mind you...and puts on about 10lb in weight.....

although the last time I did mine I used a flat blade screwdriver....but thats on the RA gordon with no ABS to worry about......so not sure for you but Im sure someone will answer you shortly...

hope you and the good lady are keeping well....hope to catch you soon...

Cheers for that Paul ;) I find the stick from a Fab ice lolly works well but the kids ate them all so i'm stuck.

We're doing fine thanks.

Do you still have the rubber hoses for the brakes?

If so the best way is to clamp the hoses as close to the calliper as possible, crack the bleed nipple after you clamp and push the pads back in with a decent HD screwdriver. No tools needed. REAR brake callipers that utilise the handbrake on the pads not in the drum like ours need a special tool, Leave the old pads in place and use them to push the pistons back in.

if you have braided hoses on the brakes DON'T CLAMP them!!! You will need to remove the filler cap on the master cylinder and be very gentle when pushing the pistons back.

if you go too mad or don't do as above then the ABS light will come on.If the ABS light illums, then you need to have it reset.
