Still looking to buy a wagon. Been on to a guy that has an sti V2 for sale. It's got a JAM package which he says is a well known japanese tuning firm that makes useable road cars. According to the seller the JAM package consists of chipped and live mapped ECU, bucket seat, techtom and boost guage, larger lightweight alloy radiator with airflow cover, short shifter and strut braces. The Jam package would have cost over £2000 alone.

does this sound about right?

and what exactly is a 'live mapped ECU' I know the ecu is the engine management and i know that mapping changes the characteristics but what does the live bit mean

and while i'm asking questions....whats a Techtom?

yours in ignorance :D

Hmmm, never heard of JAM unless it's going on some toast or techtom. Sounds like some obscure Jap tuning house but a bit of googling may clear that up but certainly not a well known package if you ask me.

I can only assume by live mapping he means the car is mapped on the road or a dyno rather than just being chipped to pre-defined settings.

Sounds like a bit of a chancer to me.

Most of the above comes standard on an sti2 (buckets, short shift and carbon strut brace to name a few).

A lot of the jap mapped cars are mapped to get the best out of them on jap fuel which has a higher octane rating than uk fuel so they don't like it over here. My sti2 came with a zero sports chip which had to be removed as it was detting on v power.

Sound as a pound now though.

a standard STi sounds the way to go. Had one lined up but I was too slow and some nice person got to it first :icon_butt:

Thanks for the info

cheers all
