pistonbroke2
Seems like this'll be the last year of car ownership while paying £210 a year. I've decided to get 6 months now which will end prior to March, then I'll get a year in before the government get that crap new tax banding system in. Money grabbing B'stards. Just read this little snippet too, I hope we see another Guy Faulks copy cat soon http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/news/default.asp?storyId=18345 Link to comment
shane
I can not understand what is green about forcing what are perfectly serviceable cars off the road prematurely only to be replaced by new build cars. Surely it is better to make use of what we already have today rather than manufacturing new, I believe that the manufacturing and disposal processes that these so called green cars appear to out weigh that of keeping existing cars going. What a tw@t Gordon Brown is. Link to comment
Nudge
Gorden Brown can stick his eco warrior attitude up his ar5e, i will drive my car where and when i want to, he can increase fuel duty, and road fund license, i'll still keep mine and unless they make an electric scoob that drives and smells like mine. i will stay with my scoob and first chance i get i will vote him and his divvy labour party out of government and get someone in who understands what us as a nation want, and are interested in our views and not the views of the do gooders of europe. darryl_martin
SO he's going to teach us "eco-friendly driving techniques", what with that and the "don't buy food you are not going to eat because you'll have to throw it away and that will cost you money" earlier in the week. Shows the high regard that he holds the british public in. Utter ****! Link to comment

danno
The new road taxes would make a vague amount of sense if they were applied to cars bought after it was announced to dissuade people from buying cars like that. To apply it retrospectively (and arbitrarily - my road tax on the same car would halve if it were 6 months older ) is pure revenue raising. To suggest that pricing me out of my Scooby and into a Fiesta will offset the 20,000 cars added to China's roads every day (fact), is just offensive. Link to comment

kaan_ors
Don't get me started on this. I'm livid with todays news. I only do about 5k miles a year but get penalised despite the fact that there are people driving around in 'greener' cars doing 4 times the mileage I do. Hopefully one day it will be on the number of miles you do, not the size of your engine. Link to comment
