Alford This Year? (yep It's A Goer) 13th July!

Recommended Posts

Can't help thinking that it's only 3 weeks or so until the SIDC event at Alford was to take place yet nothing has been announced on the Events thread... Is it still going ahead this year on the 13th July? Or have I missed something...

Hmnn.. ok.. No confirmation here so far...

Who usually arranges the event?

With little promotion there's less chance of a decent turnout!!!!

Last year it was announced several weeke before hand with detail of other clubs attending! Whats up this year?

Sorry for the wee rant but...... Seems to have been forgotten about..

I know JohnS was heavily involved with it last year, couple of us gave a hand being marshalls at it as well (although not as many as we'd have liked). Not sure who's been involved in organising it this year?

well I would be able to make it - if somebody could let us know one way or another if it going ahead? Am sure a few others would as well

I've sent John a "goat" to ask if he knows anything.. Not saying he's reponsible or anything, but hopefully he'll be able to shed some light on things..

Someone clearly contacted the Motor Museum at Alford to book the SIDC day for the 13th, so someone must know what's happening!

It was on the museum website at the beginning of the year, so the intention must have been there to have this. Strange, but maybe everybody has just been to busy.

Yes apologies for the lack of publicity. It's my work's fault for keeping me just far too busy and lots of overseas trips :P

The event is going ahead as planned on Sunday the 13th of July.

10am to 4pm, though we hope the gates will be open at around 9:30am.

Free entry, though we will be collecting donations on the gate for Santa Cruise - please give generously.

As well as the usual show and shine competition, we'll have the sprint track in use all day. Sign up and drive your own car on the track (one at a time), and get a rare chance to push your car to it's limits and see how you compare with others.

It's a great day out for the family.

We will need some assistance on the Saturday afternoon for about an hour (say around 2:30pm) to set up the safety fencing, and also at the end of the event to take it all down again.

I'm also looking for a few marshalls to help out on the day, the more we have in the "pool", the less time each needs to spend at their post. I'm hoping with 5 to 10 volunteers, that everyone will do one (maybe 2) stints of about an hour or so.

One of the marshalls will be responsible for timing the cars with a stopwatch as well.

Anyone volunteering to be a marshall will get their car on track for free - doesn't get much better than that. As long as we don't get 30 volunteers we are sorted

If anyone wants to help out in any way, just let me know on this thread.

John

I have never made this event and always wanted to.

Unfortunately I shall be howling at the moon and in a state of incapacity due to my weekends camping at T in the Park.

Imagine Grunt the evening I offered him £100 to provide a table yodelling service at Peters Restraunt and it comes nowhere near how bad Im going to be!!

I'll be home and I'm happy to volunteer my marshalling services John.

Might even be happy enough to help set up the track and fences.

Pulsar and Scoob may not be ready..........looks like the Porsche will get some track action this year :D
