Had a few problems with my car this week. Monday the rad burst and got a new one fitted which was perfect.

Started the car on wed morning and the oil pressure light wouldn't go out. I've now had a new oil pump fitted and everything was fine but just found out that a few hours later the pressure has dropped again!!! The funny thing is, the engine aint knocking but there's no pressure in the engine after a test.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me or is the engine just knackered?

Could be a dodgy pump.

If it was a garage that done the job, take it back and explain.

I aint picked it up yet mate. they phoned me this morning to tell me, after they test drove it, it was perfect but when they were gonna take it in at night the pressure light wouldn't go off. they tested it but there was no pressure. hope it is a dodgy pump.

friend got an rst engine fully rebuilt and there was intermittent oil pressure issues. after stripping it all back down again it came down to hairline crack in oil pickup pipe. worth considering perhaps if garage is struggling with diagnosis.

edit: has pressure been tested mechanically as it may be electric related otherwise.
